Hi Shafiq, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Copper-T is an intrauterine device which is an effective form of contraception for women. Once placed in the uterus, a device like Copper-T can provide protection for about a decade (10 years). It is generally tolerated well by most women and protection against pregnancy is about 98%. The following are some of the side effects which few may experience after insertion of Copper-T device: 1. Untimely bleeding. 2. Cramps. 3. Nausea. 4. Backache. 5. Inflammation of the vagina and vaginal discharge. 6. Pelvic infection and Ectopic pregnancy. There is no need to bother even if a person is diabetic until there are symptoms caused due to the presence of Copper-T device. You need to seek medical attention promptly in case such symptoms persists and becomes bothersome. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
