General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.

Both Lasix (Furosemide) and Demidex (Torsemide) are loop diuretics ("water pills") which help in excretion of water and salts from the kidney.

They are commonly prescribed to treat oedematous conditions associated with heart failure, liver or kidney diseases and other conditions.

Their common side effects include polyuria (increased frequency of urination), decreased blood potassium levels, hearing impairment, increased blood uric acid levels, etc.

Compared with Lasix, Demidex has a longer duration of action and a higher bioavailability and a less tendency to cause side effects hence prescribed by her treating doctor.

Hope these answer your queries.
