What Are The Side Effects Of Escitalopram?

What side effects should someone expect when taking their first dose of escitalopram 20 mg (my first ever antidepressant)? And is it normal to feel drugged, kind of dopey and emotionless? I woke feeling very weak, had a hard time lifting my arm off the bed, and realized my brain felt like scrambled eggs. Just wanted to know if this is something to push past, or an adverse reaction?.. Thank you very much!!

Hello :)
Escitalopram is a third generation antidepressant and it's supposed to have lesser side effects and lesser time lag for onset of action compared to the 2-3 week lag for previous generation antidepressants.
It could be side effects, or it could be what is called a nocebo effect - you fear side effects. Anyway I suggest you to visit your doctor and explain the situation so he could lower the dosage or even change your medication.
