Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Are The Side Effects Of Fenofibrate And Pravastatin?
I am curious about the side effects of four medications that I am currently taking. I. Was informed today that my liver enzymes were elevated. I have been on these medications almost two months. They are IC FENOFIBRATE 160MG tablet, IC CLOSARTAN POTASSIUM 50 MG tablet, PRAVASTATIN Sodium 20 MG tablet and Synjardy 12.5 mg / 1000 mg.
However, they may cause myopathy (muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness), inflammation of the liver resulting in raised liver enzymes, stomach upset, etc as their common side effects.
Since your liver enzymes are raised it is suggestive of liver injury caused by both Fenofibrate & Pravastatin together.
You must stop taking these medications and consult your treating doctor to prescribe an alternate effective but a safer medicine to lower the high lipid levels. Whereas the other medications are not known to cause raised liver enzymes. Hope this answers your query.

What Are The Side Effects Of Fenofibrate And Pravastatin?
Hi & Welcome. Used in the treatment of mixed hyperlipidemia (increased triglycerides and cholesterol) Fenofibrate & Pravastatin are generally safe and effective.
