Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, I am 31 yrs old and having Hypothyroidism and mild PCOD. I am taking thyronorm 50mg daily. We are planning for a baby now. Is there any side effects if i am taking Folvite tablet due to the thyroid. Also pls suggest the dosage of Folvite tablet to be taken.
Its good that you are planning to conceive and already taking Folic acid. Its good for you and your baby both. Take a multivitamin with folic acid every day before pregnancy and during early pregnancy, as part of a healthy diet.
Taking Folvite 400 mcg or more daily may prevent defects in your upcoming baby
Eat a healthy diet that includes foods that contain folate, the natural form of the vitamin.
Folic acid is found in the following foods: • Fortified breakfast cereals • Lentils i.e. Dals • Asparagus • Spinach • Peanuts • Orange juice • Enriched breads and pasta • Romaine lettuce • Broccoli However I would advise you to consult your doctor for the dosage.
Thanks Dr. Tripat Mehta
