I am a paediatric OT working with a 16 year old male who has a non-specified limb girdle dystrophy, he has nerve pain and has been prescribed Gabapentin for the pain in his legs and back,900mg per day, whilst the medication does offer pain relief he is also experiencing tiredness, drowsiness, feeling as though his legs may give way and poor stamina, all of which are consistent with his MD diagnosis, but he expressed curiosity whether there are side effects from the medication, so I am doing a bit of digging, I have seen all of the above can be side effects of Gabapentin should this be contraindicated for someone with this diagnosis?
