What Are The Side Effects Of Gardasil?

My daughter has been taking Humira for 4 years due to Crohn s disease. She has been told she needs to get the Gardasil vaccine for years. She is very hesitant due to the side effects of Gardasil. I am concerned with drug interaction of the Humira and Gardasil. What are your thoughts?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Since Gardasil is an inactivated vaccine (not live virus), side effects won't be increased by Humira, although vaccine efficacy may be a bit lower. Your doctor will discuss these things in more detail. Vaccination is good, because people on Humira will have comparatively more severe infection and more chance of cervical cancer when exposed to HPV virus compared to normal people.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
