What Are The Side Effects Of Latuda?

I have been on 40mg Latuda for a wk now after 3 mos on 20mg. I did not notice any side effects with the 20mg so my psychiatrist and I decided to increase the dosage. I am curious about the side effects of this med and/or side effects of increasing dosage. I have a strange sensation of light-headedness and restlessness after approx. 4-5 hrs. I m also having much trouble sleeping through the night. In fact, I m awake about as much as I m asleep.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Latuda is composed of 'lurasidone', which is an antipsychotic medicine.
It is used to treat schizophrenia in adults.
Common side effects with use of Latuda include: psychomotor retardation, akathisia (movement disorder characterized by a feeling of inner restlessness), basal ganglia disease, bradykinesia (slowness of movements), cogwheel rigidity, drowsiness, hypokinesia, muscle rigidity, nausea, Parkinson's disease, sedation, tremor, altered serum glucose and drooling.
You need to review with your treating doctor about the dosage of the medication, if you notice any of the above side effects, which makes you bothersome.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
