I was prescribed Meclizine 25 mg tablets by my doctor today, due to the fact that I have been experiencing dizziness/vertigo symptoms for approx. 5 months. She attributes this to an inner ear problem (no signs of infection) and says that these symptoms will eventually go away. In the meantime, she is in hopes that this med will help my symptoms, particularly due to the fact that I have a history of falls, one fall landed me in the hospital for 3 fractures of my arm, resulting in surgery, an extended hospital stay, including 2 weeks of rehab. Don t want that to happen again !! My question for you arises from my reading about the potential side effects. I have a history of adult onset of seizure disorder/epilepsy, which is now controlled. I also on pain management (Tylenol 3 -- only needed approx. twice a month or so for arthritic pain and pain in my arm from the break, and I only take it as needed when no OTC meds work.) I have also been prescribed sleep meds and have been taking them for about 1 year successfully. My concerns are that the Meclizine may cause drowsiness and other possible side effects which will outweigh the benefits of taking it; however, I trust that my doctor obviously took my med history into consideration when she prescribed it. I would simply appreciate any clarification you could give me regarding the possible occurrence of any side effects which could cause serious side effects of drowsiness, seizures or trouble breathing ( I also have a history of asthma, which has now substantially subsided and requires only an occasional puff of my inhaler). I would appreciate any insight you could provide. Thank you. Diane
