Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am suffering from vitiligo on the left side of my neck and head. I had been to a dermatologist today, who suggested that I apply Melgain on the affected area. Please let me know of the side effects of Melgain. Is it a steroid? My vitiligo has been stagnant for the last 20 years; will it aggravate the patches?
Melgain is a decapeptide commonly prescribed for the treatment of vitiligo. Its common side effects include dry skin, skin irritation, redness of the skin or burning sensation. It is not known to aggravate the patches.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
