Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Joint pain and hair loss are features of SLE. Omnacortil has many side effects and so the doctor has started you on Methotrxate (Oncotrex) as a steroid sparing medication which is shown to be safe and effective in SLE. I think you can confidently take it. At the same time, you should visit your doctor to do liver function and blood cell count to make sure that everything is fine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Noble Zachariah, Internal Medicine Specialist
