Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dr prescribed me phentermine 30 mg. I took it for a little over a week and had horrible insomnia and headaches. I stopped taking it last Friday because of that. Over the weekend I started getting dizzy and had face and hand numbness and my chest felt tight. My husband took me to ER. My blood pressure was high. It had only been two days since my last dose of phentermine. The dr said it could take a week to get it all out of my system. I m still having moments where I still don t feel quite right or my chest feels weird. I have stopped all caffeine consumption as well so that my body could get everything completely out of it. Is there anything a person can do to reverse the side effects of the phentermine quicker?
Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. Phentermine is relatively contraindicated if you are hypertensive before taking it. There is no specific antidote for it. However once it is taken it has 20 hours half and it's route of elimination is urine. Drink plenty of water at least 8-12 glasses of water also take fruit juices. If you are irritable, agitated you can take Haloperidol. High blood pressure if not present before starting phentermine don't need treatment unless diastolic Blood pressure more than 110. Hope it helps best.
