Rituximab (Anti-CD20 antibody) is a type of medication called a monoclonal antibody. It works by attaching to certain blood cells from your immune system (B cells) and killing them (cytotoxic) & thereby decreasing their level in the circulation.

Its side effects include:

1.Immediate or infusion related allergic reaction causing fever, chills, flushing, joint pain, body ache, headache, & heartburn.
2. Delayed side effects include bone marrow suppression causing decreased platelet counts (which increases the risk of bleeding), decreased white blood cells (which increases the risk of infection) and decreased red blood cells (causing anemia).
