Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi.. My 2 year old is down with fever (101.4 F) & mild cold. I gave sinarest (5ml) at 10 PM & the temperature went down. Again she had high temperature (102.5) & I gave sinarest (5ml) at 3am. Is this advisable? Does it causes any side effects? I will be taking her to the doctor in the morning.
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.
No there are no side effects for that. But I recommend to give only Acetaminophen like Tylenol for Infants syrup next time. You may give Tylenol every 4-6 hourly according to the fever.
Now if there is again a high reading, instead of giving sinarest, apply cold sponges and keep the baby in an airy place. Don't over-cover the baby as it will increase body temperature more.
Tomorrow go for the physician to get complete checkup and evaluation of the cause of fever.
Hope I answered all of your questions. Have a wonderful time ahead. Keep in touch for a follow-up too.
Regards! DR. MUHAMMAD HANIF USA
