Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been on Tri-Previfem for birth control for about 6 months now. This past month I decided to skip the inactive pills in my pack to skip my period because it fell on an inconvenient time for me. Now I m about a week and a half through my next pack and I ve been experiencing a brown, watery discharge for the past 4 days, similar to what I would see just before my period..It doesn t look like blood at al so I don t think it s spotting. What could be causing this? Possibly pregnancy? And if it is pregnancy am I able to take a test at this time or would I have to wait until I am due for my next period?
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Nausea, vomiting, headache, bloating, breast tenderness, swelling of the ankles/feet (fluid retention), or weight change, Vaginal bleeding between periods (spotting) or missed/irregular periods are common side effects of Tri-previfem.
It is contraceptive pills so no need to worry about pregnancy.
Your brownish discharge may be due to some vaginal infection like bacterial vaginosis. Consult your gynaecologist and go for examination. Then take treatment accordingly.
No need of pregnancy testing.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
