What Are The Side Effects Of A Balloon Sinuplasty?

I had balloon sinuplasty 2 yrs ago. It was very painful. Since then I had no relief. When seeking a 2nd opinion I was told I didn t need the surgery because after looking at my cat scan I didn t have sinuitis. Could having that procedure when I didn t need it cause me other problems?

Balloon sinuplasty or balloon sinus dilation reshapes the anatomy of your sinuses and expands the pathways to restore drainage. During the procedure, small balloons are placed in the nose and sinuses, then are dilated to expand the sinus pathways.

As with any medical procedure, there are associated risks and side effects. Balloon sinuplasty is minimally invasive, so there are fewer potential side effects than with other sinus procedures.

Some potential balloon sinuplasty side effects include:-

1. Postoperative bleeding
2. Pain and swelling
3. Allergic reaction to anesthesia or other medications
4. Infection
