Hi,
Argon Plasma Coagulation is a non contact thermal method of
hemostasis that has become popular in now a days. It is used as an alternative to contact thermal coagulation and non contact procedures like laser. Using of Argon Plasma Coagulation's benefits are- it is easily to apply, quick approach of treatment, safety due to less penetration and cost effective than
laser treatment. Argon Plasma Coagulation can be used to treat GIT vascular lesions, GIT bleeding, vascular lesions that require repeated hospitalization, angiodyplasias,
inflammatory polyps etc.
Side effects of Argon Plasma Coagulation are rectal pain, rectal ulcerations, mucus discharge, fistulation and stricture formation,
abdominal pain and distension, tenesmus etc. Most of these complications are mild and go away with the passing of time. But if these side effects persist for long, then you should consult your doctor quickly for
medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
