What Are The Side Effects Of Aromitase Inhibitor ?

I am considering starting Arimidex post radiation for early breast cancer. I have RA and am usually on MTX; recurrent SVT controlled on a beta blocker; and hypothyroidism. I am wondering what the risk versus benefit would be in taking the aromitase inhibitor

Hi,

An aromitase inhibitor belongs to a group of medications that is used to treat breast cancer to reduce levels of circulating estrogen by stopping an enzyme in fat tissue called aromatase which can convert androgens into estrogen. But like some other medications, this medication has some side effects of its own.

Side effects of this medication are night sweats, hot flashes, joint pain, muscle aches, osteoporosis or bone fractures, vaginal itching, vaginal dryness, loss of libido and many more. Despite having some side effects, this medication is essential for your present health conditions and for that reason, your physician has chosen this medication for you. So, you should follow your Physician's treatment protocol strictly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
