Five years and five months ago I had bi-lateral mastectomies for breast cancer. The cancer was ER, PR and Her/2 positive. The cancer was actually .6 cm ductal and invasive lobular cells. For five years and four months I have been taking arimidex. What is the current data for the length of time to take arimidex and what are the side effects of long term use of the drug.
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. Side effects can include: hot flushes and sweats. Tiredness, vaginal dryness, nausea, and vomiting, diarrhoea. Hair thinning, headaches. joint pains and change in appetite. You have crossed these side effects. Long-term side effect is osteoporosis although bisphosphonates can be given to prevent bone loss. Hence you need not worry about the long term side effect. You consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
