What Are The Side Effects Of Smoking Marijuana Despite Suffering From Heart Vein Blockage?

I had heat surgery in 2009 to unblock 4 veins in my heart. Since then I have been very healthy to the point I carried air conditioners on my shoulders up and down stair cases in college dorms and installed them. My heart was healthy my veins were blocked. my question is does smoking Marijuana effect this procedure over time. My personal doctor at the V. A. told me he didn t think smoking a little would cause me any problems. What is your opinion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Smoking whether plain tobacco or marijuana can cause repeat atherosclerotic plaque formation which can cause blockage of blood vessels in the heart. It's better to stop it as soon as possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
