my mother has been diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, and surgery is difficult as she has a very low platelet count ( 40,000).. the Oncologist suggested she should take some steroids to increase the platelet count and then a surgery can be performed to removed the infected thyroid gland. What are the side effects of steroids? and is it wise to go ahead with a surgery?
