Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello for the last 15 years i have been on lipitor then crestor. i stopped taking crestor recently because every morning i have had dull muscle aches in my hamstrings and legs. This made walking difficult. it would eventually ware off. while on the medication my hdl and ldl were good. what are my risks of stopping meds
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Crestor & lipitor both contains statin group of medicines. These are used to reduce overall cholesterol, increase HDL & decrease LDL cholesterol. So if you stop these drug your cholesterol may increase, mainly LDL cholesterol. Which can be harmful to your body specially your heart. If you are having problems with them, consult your doctor he would reduce the dose of drug or change it.
Refer to your physician Hope this information helps
