Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What are the side effects of Reglan? My son has severe gastroparesis and we tried Botox injection via upper endoscopy but really hasn t helped much with nausea and vomiting. Next step is Emycin or Reglan. Since he vomits with Zithromax, his GI MD is hesistant to do the Emycin and recommended the Reglan. I am really nervous about the side effects of the Reglan such as tardive dyskinesia. What are the main side effects to watch for with the Reglan?
If your son develops any abnormal movements in his face (chewing, lip smacking, frowning, tongue movement, blinking or eye movement) or slow or jerky muscle movements, problems with balance or walking, the medication Reglan should be stopped immediately and an alternate effective but a safer medication to be prescribed his treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician

Its common side effects include diarrhea, drowsiness, muscle pain or weakness, restlessness and extra-pyramidal symptoms (like Parkinson s disease).
