What Are The Side Effects Of Using Coumadin?

My Mother has sores all on her bottom lip. This started in December. I thought at first they were fever blisters. Now the top of her hands and feet are broken out. She is on the blood pressure drug Coumadin. Could this be a reaction to the drug?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Coumadin is an anticoagulant that works by preventing Vitamin K dependent coagulation. Presence of blisters which are increasing in numbers and area is a severe side effect associated with this anticoagulant.

I would advise you not to ignore these blisters as the medicine needs to be changed or the dose to be adjusted by the prescribing doctor. Hence, you will need to consult the prescribing doctor again.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic with your trouble. I wish your mother feels better soon!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
