What Are The Side Effects Of Vitamin E Supplements?

I was advised by a friend that large amounts of vitamin E could cure a disabling pain in my left leg that ran from my knee to my buttocks. I took 2500 IU of vitamin E for 2 days and the pain was almost gone. The most intense pain had been in my buttocks. I have stopped using the vitamin E. Could I have done any damage for such a short usage?
