General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what your mother had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, these symptoms can point to the possibility of Alzheimer's and family history is one of the important causative factors however a detailed neurological examination and neurologist review can help to determine that.
Also rule out other possibilities like central nervous system infections etc by a baseline work up and her primary care physician visit. Regards
