Hi
Sexual contact is a well established route of
HIV infection
So unprotected sex to be avoided
After 3- 6 weeks of contact 60-70% of people who get infection will manifest the features of early infection including
fever,
myalgia,
fatigue, throat pain , neck swelling (
lymphadenopathy).
In this condition they need to investigate for possible HIV
Initial testing is by ELISA
If negative, repeat after 3 months, and if again negative HIV is excluded from
If it's positive, do a second sample, and if still positive , proceed with confirmatory test including western bloat and follow HIV management protocol as per doctor's advice.
Remember, after the introduction of highly active anti retroviral treatment (HAART) HIVis no longer a fatal disease but a chronic disease.
But prevention is better than cure
Quit high risk behaviour
All the best
Thank you
