Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Doctors think i have a uti. Im on zsmz/tmp for 20 days. I am on day 5 of this antibiotic and no sign of relief. Still burns, still this electric shock feeling after that will put you in the floor. Dark color no ordor but strong smell. AZO for urinary relief didnt touch the pain. I have a tissue like substance in the urine and at one point it appeared to be bloody. The only thing that has subsided is the urgency, and the back pain... What next? Or has it been long enough for the smmz/tmp to correct it?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. As you not having response to the antibiotic sulpha that you are taking for 20 days you should go for a culture and sensitivity test and change antibiotic according to it. Long term urinary infection can affect kidneys and such case antibiotics in injection form will be required. A consultation with an urologist is well appreciated in this case. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
