Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. How can you tell the difference between food poisoning and Norovirus? My wife and I went to FL from Thurs-Sun. On Saturday morning my wife had diarrhea and vomiting. I had no symptoms. I woke up very ill today with the same symptoms; food poisoning generally comes on pretty quickly and wonder if we both have a Norovirus infection.
If there is an infection, you will get fever, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal crampy pains and generalized body aches. Symptoms are not particular to any case. You need to get blood culture done to know the offending agent. Or can be generally treated with antiviral agents for five to seven days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
