Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My girlfriend hit her head a few days ago and had a concussion. She is sensitive to light and sounds, seems disoriented at times and trouble falling asleep (almost falling asleep and getting scared/shocked . They took a scan and reported no bleeding and her follow up is in a few days. My question is what signs/symptoms should I be looking for emergency situations?
Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query. Photophobia, minor disorientation and sleeping disorders are part of concussion syndrome and this should not worry you if CT scan was fine. Serious symptoms would be loss of conciousness, profuse vomiting more than 3x, seizures, arm plegia or speak disorders. If she doesnt have these, she should rest in darkened room, avoid smoky areas, lights and alcohol and it should be fine in few days. Wish you good health. Regards
