Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How do I knowifi am dehydrated? My skin on my legs etc. seems to be shedding a little; like in bed on my sheets. I am 75 yrs. old and I wondered if I wasn t drinking enough water (liquid). I have heard that if you push in on your skin and it stays indented, then you are dehydrated. Thank you
>I understand your concern. Shedding of skin layer might not be associated with dehydration. Signs of dehydration include:
1. Passing scanty urine or passing high coloured urine.
2. Very dry skin and loss of skin elasticity.
3. Feeling dizzy.
4. Rapid heartbeat.
5. Rapid breathing.
5. Sunken eyes.
6. Sleepiness.
7. Lack of energy.
8. Confusion or irritability.
Kindly consult Dermatologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management as you could be having certain skin disorder.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
