General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your divorce. It's nice to know you are still very caring for your husband.

Parkinson disease triggers dementia as it is a neuro-degenerative disease. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. Dementia manifests with symptoms like confusion, changes in personality, behavioral changes, loss of the ability to do every day tasks/activities & depression, poor judgement or unable to make proper decisions. Mild to moderate cognitive declines.

Weight loss in Parkinson's disease is mainly due to swallowing difficulties, decreased appetite, poor gut motility. Malnutrition may exacerbate motor & non motor symptoms. Depression causes sleep changer, anger/agony, irritability, loss of interest in daily activities, helplessness, insomnia, loss of energy, feeling of self worthlessness, loneliness, isolation, problems in married or daily life, etc.

You seem to be concerned why your husband didn't talk to you about his or your illness, the answer is he was not well & needed care. No worries, don't think about the past. Do for him now if that is not a big issue, help him recover.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
