What Are The Symptoms Of Ear Infection?

I just picked up my son from school crying holding his left ear. He said a boy screamed in his ear. My son is 5 years old and isn't prone to ear infections. Could a child do damage by screaming in my sons ear or should I consider this a ear infection?

hello and welcome to heath care magic,

Your son can get pain or damage to the ear or ear drums by a simple scream! The closed environment of the ear is very sensitive to loud noise especially if close to the ear.

You need to get him examined by an ENT who can see the drum with an otoscope and assess the damage if any

You also need to avoid head bath for a week or two until the pain completely disappears

Avoid any ear drops

Do not worry, in almost ninety percent of cases the drum and ear pain will get better without any problem!

hope this helps

regards

Dr Sriram Nathan
