I want to inquire on hyperthyroidism, i have been eating healthy and working out starting last mid dec 2010, and til now, i noticed i have gain weight of nearly 5kg. Despite leading a healthy lifestyle with adequate sleep / rest, i sometimes do feel very lethargic. For the past 6 months, my weight has increased in totality of 8kg. Pls advise.

Hello,
The symptoms you reported are suggestive for underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism.
As the thyroid hormones are responsible for a normal metabolism, the under production will cause a slow in metabolism rate.
Except of weight gain and feeling lethargic, other common symptoms of hypothyroidism are: constipation, hair fall, dry skin, low heart rate, heat intolerance ect.
You should confirm it by checking : TSH,Ft4 and FT3 level.
