Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 12-yr old SWCAH daughter was exposed to influenza A. She started running a fever yesterday afternoon - it got up to 101.8 and came down to 100.8 with both ibuprofen and tylenol. By last night, she didn t have a temp and slept well. She woke up without a temp but then started running a temp again this afternoon - she is halfway through the ibuprofen and no fever. Is this normal? She really wants to go to school but hasn t been fever free for 24 hrs. Could this be influenza?
Influenza is a viral infection that attacks your respiratory system. For most people, influenza resolves on its own. Your daughter may have influenza. Please be patient and continue giving her Ibuprofen and paracetamol for fever.
You will also have to ensure that she has proper rest for another couple of days and she drinks plenty of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma
