Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently picked up smoking again and have been smoking for the past 5 months. I started at 13 stopped at 16 and now I m 22. A pack last me two to three days. I have decided to stop but I m scared I already done damage to my larynx. When I swallow I feel a pop and it hurts. When I laugh loud or anything I feel the pop again. I ve also had white pus pockets on back of throat and sore throat. Chances of larynx cancer?? I don t have insurance and not sure if I can afford an ENT doctor. What should I do next?
Larynx cancer is not a primarily seen disease in your age. It usually occurs in people aged between 60-70 years with a long-term heavy smoking. You probably have a laryngeal polyp or other benign types of upper respiratory tract lesions. You must be examined by an ENT doctor for definitive diagnosis. In this time, you must stop smoking and consuming beverages including high alcohol levels.
Hope you recover soon
