my son has aids..he is scheduled this week for a sonogram because they think removal of his gallbladder is necessary due to gallstones. Also, he has had 2 episodes of acute pancreatitis in the last yr....lung xrays are scheduled as well because he has been having constant congestion. he is on meds but this sudden grouping of issues has me concerned. Is he moving into the later stages of aids?
Hello As you mentioned that your son is having HIV infection ( AIDS) ,but you mentioned that "is he moving in the later stage of aids"? I am so sorry to hear this .But truth is that at present it is very difficult to say about the advanced-stage disease . If CD4+ T cell is less than 200/ microL, is is serious and patient is prone to opportunistic infection . But if it is less than ( CD4+T cell ) than it is dangerous to life . Further measurement of HIV rna is also important like wise . As far as concerned about the removal of gallstone , it will be decided by concerned surgeon . Pancreatitis and congestion are some "OPPORTUNISTIC " infection , very common in aids patient and for which patient have to take treatment . So please get in blood for CD4+T cell counts and judge the condition of your son. Hope he will son recover . Good luck.
