What Are The Symptoms Of Liver Cirrhosis?

I have a boyfriend who has lived with Hep C for many years recently diagnosed with Cirrhosis of Liver. The gastroenterologist who has seen him after the numerous blood tests, sonogram & endoscopy advised him that he would consider starting medication treatment after six months of sobriety. While I realize terminating alcohol is the path to recovery, can he actually deny starting treatment for that length of time? Shouldn t treatment begin asap since he has had Hep C for 30+years, not alcohol related - intravenous needle use years ago. I am concerned because he is getting progressively exhausted & fatigue is evident. Other signs of the Cirrhosis aren t evident as yet. thank you. karen
