Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What are the symptoms of mononucleosis in an adult? I am 57 years old. I am very healthy otherwise, no health problems or medications. Was stuck on golf course about a month ago and was thoroughly rained on. Then the rain stopped and it became very cold and windy. Of course, I finished golfing but I have never been able to warm up since. I ve had 7 colds my entire life and never missed a day of school or work my whole life. I got a sore throat and sinus infection after this incident that took a week to subside. I felt a little better for nearly a week then it felt like it recurred but not as strong. I have been waiting for this process to resolve but it hasn t. I am usually warm most of time and now I can t get warm. I am wearing layers of clothes, both inside or outside the house. My energy is diminished which is quite differently than I have always been. I used to sleep 4 1/2 to 5 hours for most of my life. Now I am tired by 10 PM and sleeping over 8 hours a day. I just t feel like me. I have no other symptoms. No weight or appetite changes. What do you think? Mono? What should I expect and when will I be me again?
The most usual signs and symptoms of mononucleosis are as follows: Fatigue. Sore throat, perhaps misdiagnosed as strep throat, that doesn't get better after treatment with antibiotics.Fever.Swollen lymph nodes in your neck and armpits.Swollen tonsils.Headache.Skin rash.Soft, swollen spleen.
