Hi, ive been on 30mg Prednisolone tablets a day for nearly a month now and am late by a week for my menstrual cycle, I have been very careful with my partner, only had sex once with a condom. Would a pregnancy test turn out negative because of the steriods if I did one if I was pregnant? Even though I know that ive been carful I know accidents can happen such as maybe a potential hole in the condom for say.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is the only hormone that would make a pregnancy test positive. Since you have taken precautions during intercourse with your partner, it is unlikely that you could be pregnat. However, steroids do affect a woman's levels of progesterone and estrogen levels, which might have caused delay in your periods. Kindly wait for another week and see if you get your periods. In case you don't get, you need to consult Gynecologist for evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
