Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have read the previous posts on bubbles running through the calves or legs, and 90 % of the answers say it is RLS. I have this, and it is something totally different. It almost feels something is running through the veins, like bubbles. Some of the posts people will ask about blood clots and such, which I also was concerned about. It does run on my left leg ( backside) where I do have vericos veins( sp). Generally it is felt from sitting positions and when in bed. It does not really hurt, it s more like pressure running through the blood in the leg. It is different than muscle aches. It sometimes will run up through the upper leg (back side) It can be like a creepy crawly feel, yet not like in RLS. Seeking answers on line if you can help. Thanks!
In people with mild to moderate restless legs syndrome, lifestyle changes, such as beginning a regular exercise program, establishing regular sleep patterns, and eliminating or decreasing the use of caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco, may be helpful.
Also, some home remedies that may help include leg massages, hot baths or heating pads or ice packs applied to the legs and good sleep habits.
Medications may be helpful but are used only in severe cases and may be, Neupro, and Requip or benzodiazepines. Anticonvulsants, or antiseizure drugs, such as Tegretol, Lyrica or Neurontin.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
