Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I might have sepsis... my wisdom teeth need to be pulled. I haven’t gone to the dentist because I’m not covered and can’t afford it. My wisdom teeth are all broken and black and have been that way for awhile and only tonight my right side of my jaw and throat hurt. The mussels on the right side of my throat hurt. I don’t think it’s swollen but it kind of hurts to swollow. I read online that it could be sepsis but am I just being paranoid? What should I do?
I think you are overestimating your problems; sepsis is not a word to be put to the condition. Maybe, you might have infection and inflammation of the surrounding tissue and can be treated with general antibiotics.
But, sepsis is reserved for the patients who complain of fever, generalized body aches and pains, chills and rigors with inflammatory mediators and lymphocytes in the body with elevated ESR levels.
SIRS (Systemic inflammatory response syndrome) criteria are there to decide if its sepsis or not, this info is too much beyond necessary for you. Kindly, take any antibiotic medication for infection by any near doctor after prescription.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
