I suspect I may have temporal arteritis. I have had RA for approximately 32 years (I m a 59 yo female) .and it is now severe, causing many other health problems. I was recently hospitalized with pneumonia and sepsis, then in rehab for 18 days, making my total hospital stay 25 days. This was the second time I have been hospitalized for sepsis and the second bout with pneumonia. The symptoms I am having include a tender scalp, pain when chewing, muscle pain and tightness, stomach pain and nausea, lack of appetite, occasional blurred vision, as well as many of the symptoms that are listed for temporal arteritis. I have an excellent primary care doctor, but I m unsure of how to bring this up with him. I have never diagnosed myself and don t go looking for things on the Internet that I might have. This came up accidentally when I was searching to see if headaches can go along with diabetes and high blood sugar. ( I was diagnosed with diabetes about 5 years ago and until recently it has been very mild. So my main questions are: does it sound like temporal arthritis is a possibility?, how can I raise this question to an excellent, but prideful physician?, and finally - does high blood sugar cause headaches?
