Hello and welcome to HCM,
The
thyroid nodule needs to be investigated.
Thyroid nodule can be due to
goiter or
thyroid neoplasm.
Thus, few investigations need to be done to determine the nature of lesion and plan its treatment.
An
ultrasound of the neck needs to be done to assess whether the nodules are cystic or solid.
The ultrasound needs to be followed by fine needle aspiration cytology wherein a needle is inserted into the swelling, cells are aspirated and stained with appropriate stain.
The aspirated cells are examined microscopically to determine the nature and character of thyroid cells.
A thyroid function test should also be done to determine the status of thyroid.
As you have mentioned that some other
lymph nodes are also enlarged- in armpit, groin etc, these lymph nodes also need to be aspirated similar to the thyroid swelling.
Management will be planned once diagnosis is made after investigations.
Thanks and take care
