I was informed by a friend in mazatlan mexico that he cannot work for up to 8 days because he has" inflamacion de vena en un lado de su pompis"...now, with my limited Spanish, I make that out as being " inflamed vein in the side of his buttocks"...is that possible? is it a vericose vein? he is 40 yrs old and is a full time pulmonia driver ( taxi that looks like a golf cart) He says that surgical intervention might be required. Thx for your time
Hi, It is unlikely to be a Varicose vein. that location is not common for Varicose veins. They are most common in the calf at the level of the knee or below. And if they are in thigh they are mostly in the inner parts. Sometimes they develop behind the thigh also but almost never on the outer side of buttock or thighs. So, it could be something else. Also, Varicose veins dont usually get inflamed or cause pain. So it could be a nerve which could be causing him pain. Take care and contact me directly by asking a 'Direct Question' if you have more information on the condition of your friend. Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India
