What Are The Transmission Modes Of Genital Warts?

I havent had any sexual partners who hav genital warts, but i also know that even if they got tested and it came back negative it could still be in their system and could have passed it on to me. also can you get them from a virgin even if u used a condom. or could the lumps in my genital area just be normal..

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Genital warts is an STD, caused by HPV (Human papilloma Virus). Though presence of visible warts is a surety, that one has HPV infection but individuals may not have any visible warts (sub-clinical infection) but still be carrying HPV infection.
A Pap test in a female can detect viral DNA even if there are no visible warts, however, there are no approved tests for detection of sub-clinical infection in males.
The only way one can get genital warts is through sexual contact with an infected partner; a condom does not guarantee 100% protection.
A virgin though would be an unlikely source of HPV infection.
As you have noticed genital bumps, and you are not sure whether these are genital warts or something else, therefore, you must visit a dermatologist or sexual health specialist for a confirmatory diagnosis.
The morphology of warts is sufficiently characteristic to be diagnostic on clinical examination.
