What Are The Withdrawal Side Effects Of Exemestane?
Are there withdrawal symptoms associated with stopping the use of 25 mg of exemestane daily for the past 4 1/2 years. I last took it on 4/16/17 in hopes that I could gain enough energy to take a trip to Ohio to see my family. My breast cancer in 2012 fed on estrogen. That s why it was prescribed. But it has caused me extreme fatigue.
Aromatase inhibitors decrease the effect of estrogens on receptors. When to take or how many years to be taken had not mentioned in studies. Yes, taking these drugs may cause weakness and hot flashes.
If you stop taking it then these symptoms may improve. Few patients may not develop any withdrawal symptoms. Few may show improvement in these symptoms.
But keep an eye on your malignancy that may recur in case of the ER-positive tumor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
