Why would my primary care doctor tell me to stop taking my Atorvastatin 80mg ? I have been taking it for quite a while for my heart condition---since 1998 Ive had aprox 10 stents put in my heart I have had one real heart attack. I had some mosiquestoe bites---he had me just take a regular allergy tablet for the iching-spelling then some oyher cream However- I am quite concern about just stopping the heart RX. Yes I am real concerned becaused because he seem to stop the Atorvastatin because I was ichy from all of the bites Thank You Jack
Stopping your statin can cause your cholesterol levels to increase and can put you at a greater risk for heart attack or stroke. While undesirable side effects may go away when you stop your statin, your risk of greater health problems can increase.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
