What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Flecainide Acetate?

I have been taking flecainde acetate 50mg twice a day for over twelve months, following cardiovsersion. I have had no problems. Would it be safe to stop taking these tablets now? My worry is that my heart might drop out of rhythm and I would need to repeat cardioversion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Flecainide will not cause any withdrawal symptoms on stopping but arrhythmia will continue to occur which can be dangerous.I would suggest you to continue taking the drug since Flecainide cannot cure the disease and only control the symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
