Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have just completed my 1st cycle of levest 150 30 but misunderstood the instructions and have immediately started the next pack. I know that this isn t a problem, but have realised that I will now have a bleed right in the middle of my holiday. I do not take it for birth control just to sort out my heavy periods. Am I ok to have a seven day break even though I am part way through the next pack. And then start again properly?
If you have a seven day break though you are part way through the next pack, you will get a withdrawal bleed. When you finish a pack you should start another pack the next day whether or not you are still bleeding. Follow the instructions properly or you may get pregnant after you stop taking the pills haphazardly.
BC pills protect against pregnancy but not against STD. Always perform safe sex. Use condoms. Since you have complains of having heavy periods you are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist to detect cysts, polyps, fibroids, endometriosis. Get the required blood tests and imaging tests done to stay on the safer side. Get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
